Until Tomorrow (Poem)

Sun is still shining, no end in sight
The shadows of trees just seem to fight
I gave you what was left of me
But you feed on needing something more
To not have to feel free
Of feelings that are now mature
Just one feeling I need to resist
Hoping to soon forget I don’t exist
The smiles on the picture
Belong to you and I
But where was it taken?
And all I see is fear
Is the past just the biggest lie?
All the hopes that grew me up
Were played out by coincidence
But now just don’t seem to be strong enough
What was I thinking?
Someone stranded I must have forgot.
Next time they find me, I’m yours
I don’t want what you will not
Until tomorrow
Until tomorrow

I followed the children
Until they were children no more
Flesh and bones looming larger
Through holes in my broken door
You knew they needed something more
But can you still choose to stay true?
To trust that unfortunate child
Who has your deal in their view
And will sigh, if not cry
But remain true too
Walking naked in your dreams
After footprints, silently
Until mourning comfortably
To orientate your means
If your fate could ever not relocate then do
What you can’t admit you didn’t want
Hesitatingly, license to confuse
Kiss me but deny me
Tame and crucify me
Rid yourself of all together
You wished we hadn’t seen
But why don’t you fish to wait
And not take the bait
Giving me, nothing more to take
And not turn from fear to hate?
Since forgiveness left us stranded
On the manmade stagnant lake
Until tomorrow
Until tomorrow

Gatekeepers lodging in the wilderness
Windmills caressing the prowl of the mist
The shrouded scholar gazing in and out of eternity
And you kept from clashing
With the different emotions of my footsteps
So many paths heading out to sea
Imagining the fullness of the landscape
Surrounding the walls of my impossibility
Deserving the purpose of a reborn stranger
Creating time bogged down in the tail of what I remember
With a trainload of sense intruding out of happiness
Making flowers of the darkness grow
Understanding but without a chance
A dying messenger lauded but not impressed
Knowing judgement can’t be second guessed
Leaving me no place to hide
Freezed out from remembered pride
Staking claims by the count of five
But I can’t go further than the tide
Caravans of becoming weren’t able to confide
In wisdom forgiven as if my bride
So you can cultivate everything
And destroy your precious ring
But you can’t create anything
To be born in mourn to bring
Nothing new for me to sing
Until tomorrow
Until tomorrow.
