Garden Party

The party has grown dull
In the garden of earthly delights
Overrun with seductive weeds
And the ruins of Stonehenge
The tree of life uprooted with reality bites
Is custom made into dark musical chairs
The sky is overcast but it will not rain
While the constant gardener is fast asleep
Dreaming of the golden age
There’s little left for him to dress and keep
The crowds seem content though
Drunk on envy and convenience
Eating disproportionate amounts of food

Like a stream aloof, “Let us go then, you and I”
Taking the cup we play hide and seek for cemetery lips
But there is something of someone missing
The scheduled entertainment has not turned up
Rumour has it they got held up
On the highways party spirit is rife

Uninvited guests have assumed another name
The children of God are playing mind games
Led out of temptation up the garden path
While the media has set everything up
Such that the beauty is ignored
The conservatorium is full of pragmatic whores
Who make alot of noise about the smallest things
Making love to the thorns of forgetfulness
And changing the weather
While alienated party animals get their batteries recharged
No one is keen to sweep the floor
Even the prince of peace has left for the moors
But the party still continues well into the night
Waiting for the dawn to shed new light on situations
And to somehow set things right
