The Intruder

She huddled in the corner with her hands over her head.; too terrified to look up. She knew the intruder was there, but was too frozen to the spot to do anything about it. She could feel her breath in her chest and her heart pumping, she was terrified. She wanted to peep through her stiff fingers but dared not. She thought she could hear him. ‘Oh dear God’ keep him away. Various scenarios flitted through her mind. “Did she have the courage to face him?” “Did she have the courage to kill him?”  The answer to both of these questions was NO. What could she do? Fear and determination fought a battle in her head. She WOULD do something. Taking her courage into both hands she jumped up and raced for the door screaming as she went. Just through the door she bumped into her neighbour and she almost swooned into his arms. ‘’Whatever is the matter?’ he enquired. Between sobs she told him ’ There’s a Spider in there.’’.
