Psychic Detective Chapter 28

Photographs. As I looked at them I gave a little gasp.
‘This one Jeff, it’s the house I ‘saw’, the one leading to the jetty’ I exclaimed.
‘Is it now?. that’s a break, now we might find out who it belongs to. Any other bells ringing? so to speak.’ he asked
‘There is one here of Margot and a man. I seem to know him, but I’m not sure how’ I said holding the photograph for him to see.
’That’s Mr.Geoffrey Fryer M.P. fiance of Miss Patricia Morrison, if I am not mistaken’ he held the photograph to the light ‘and here’s one of our Mr Callaghan with the same man. Looks like it could be at some party or other, they all seem very cosy, don’t they?’
‘I suppose it is being theatricals that makes them so affectionate to each other’ I observed.
Jeff laughed a hollow laugh ‘You can be very niaive Emilia, but delightful with it’ he added when he saw my hurt expression ‘They all look a bit too pally pally for my liking. We’ll take these with us and peruse them at our leisure. I fancy these are what Mr Callaghan was looking for, not drugs’ he said gathering up the photographs, and heading for the door.

I spent that evening gathering all the bits of information into a string of something intelligible. We knew who the girl was, or at least her theatrical name, whether this was her real name or not we had no way of knowing. We knew she was connected with the M,P Geoffrey Fryer, and that she certainly had one enemy, if not more than one, she seemed to be able to upset people very easily, Look at Clarisse, Margot had her hopping mad, but mad enough to kill?

The house in the photograph , what about that? I puzzled over it and felt myself slipping away.

I was ‘at’ the House
At the jetty to be more precise. Margot was lying face down on the ground right next to the river. A foot gently eased her lifeless body over ,and in doing so tipped it into the river where I watched it slowly sink at first then rise again and float away on the current.

I was back in my livingroom, That was how it happened. that was how Margot’s body came to be in the river. She wasn’t thrown in at all, whoever had hit her had wanted to see the extent of the damage done, and inadvertently, or so it seemed, pushed her into the water. So the murderer hadn’t really know if she was dead or not before she went into the water, but did know that once in there she would drown, so the intent to murder was still there.
