Psychic Detective chapter one

I am dedicating this synopsis to dear Saleire, my most avid fan. I hope she enjoys it.

We start with Emilia back in England, now please dear readers allow for the fact that Emilia is psychic and therefore you will be subjected to past, present and future events almost at the same time, this is no fault of the writer haha.

St.Martin’s Field, a quiet sleepy village with a small scattering of house, some with thatched roofs, others with stone slabbed roofs, a few farms, a church, a village pond and green and a pub ’The Coach and Horses@ which had in fact been an old coaching house, it nestled in the centre of the village, its low beams something of a hazard to those of five feet eight inches and over, who had to duck their heads at strategic places to avoid braining themselves.; but no one seemed to mind and it did not stop them congregating there on a Saturday Night.

The Church, the St Martins of the village name, with its attendant churchyard, had a vicar also a local of the Coach and Horses, had a good gathering of his flock on a Sunday, having cajoled them on their Saturday night out into attending Church the following day. There were other Church goers who did not grequent the pub, but not many.

The village was cut in half by the river which ran through the middle with a ford interlocking the two halves at the high end of the village and a bridge at the lower end. The Farms and a couple of smallholdings were on the outskirs, Trees abounded everywhere.

This was a place which had changed little since the seventeenth century, very few ‘new’ houses had been built in the intervening span of time, people choosing to renovate the existing dwelling places. The houses, mostly cottages with lattice windows looking out onto neat gardens. There one or two large houses. It was a village which always looked, to the outside to be idyllic, so neat and tidy, seeming almost to be lost in another world, and era,

Of course, everyone knew everyone else, this was inevitable in a village of its size and there were rarely incomers, but I Emilia Soames had been one such, some five years previously. I had wanted somewhere quiet to settle and write my books. Since my first novel four years before had hit the headlines, I had been inundated with offers from Publishers and had even had an offer from a Film Company wanting to make the original bestseller into a movie.
With so much attention levelled on me, I found it increasingly difficult to ‘get down’ to writing even one word.; so when I had seen the cottage for sale, almost by accident,
I made immediate enquiries and the property was mine within the month. I couldn’t believe it, I had been to visit a friend and which is my want, became lost, I drove up and down lanes trying to find my road again, and came upon St Martin’s Field
suddenly, one minute it was not there, the next it was, I couldn’t find it on the map, but it was perfect, just what I wanted, so peaceful, so tranquil., so inspirational. So me!!!
