Artist's Description

You all appear to like history, so here is a bit. Easby Abbey or the Abbey of Saint Agatha was founded in 1152 and was a monastery until Henry V111 dissolved the monasteries in 1530.. Soldiers had been billoted there in 1346 on their way to the battle at Nevilles Cross, and caused some damage apparently,
After Henry’s dissolution the Abbey fell into disrepair., though today it is maintained and kept intact.
The picture shows one of the great walls left standing. There is a tremendous amount of it, it must have been huge in its hayday.
