Artist's Description

This is for the history buffs. It was built in 1180 and is part of the Lord Barnard Estates. These are the Vane-Tempests and Bowes Lyons (Late Queen Mother was a Bowes-Lyon) lineage. I have shown the Raby Castle belonging to the current Lord Barnard who lives in it. This church is magnificent inside and has two altars, The High Altar, and a lower Altar (for every day usage) I will put some pic up of the inside too. It is enormous inside, and very beautiful.
Originally in 1180 this church was dedicated to St.Gregory, but later dedicated to St Mary, so now it is St Mary and St Gregory. Inside can be seen original parts of the Saxon church which was the original church on this site.
