Deceiving

I close my eyes again;
your voice flowing like
gentle streams,
the ones I remember from
brighter days.
It seemed then we were sitting
on the shoulders of God;
the mountains
but now the memories
are only seen in the wrinkles
and calouses on our skin.
Your words envelop me,
and I’m finding it harder every day
to leave you alone.
It sounds so much different than it feels,
but you know how it feels.
Strange…
how we are so bathed
in our disbelief,
clothed in our disbelief,
consumed in it.
What’s stranger
is how fast we can
doubt our disbelief;
when you say my name
I can shed my skin
like a melting layer of ice
and I don’t feel scared
of love anymore.

And I like it.
