The pained to the pleasured

Everything will fall apart and everything will come together.
Blurred lines form the member
of a circle that starts and ends with surrender.
Thus we descend to the beggar.
By a thread is close enough to call it severed:
rain ahead is close enough to call it bad weather.
So of course we compare the dead to the tethered,
the eyeballed to measured,
the pained to the pleasured.
We forget to remember,
that we are a different combination of the same parts,
same ends, same starts, but with different compounds in our hearts:
all withering in the eyes of judgement.

It’s no wonder.
And it makes sense that we would grow up to resent
being “just as good” as one another.
My sisters and my brothers, we are not created equal,
and if this life has a sequel
it wouldn’t be any more or less fair.
It’d just be floating there.

The pained to the pleasured
