Thursday

I hear the wind whisking through the trees
and I know it has nothing to do with the
fact that it is Thursday.
I see my little kitten sitting on the floor
hearing the same sounds I am hearing
and Thursday has nothing to do with it.

Beautiful music is coming from my living room
and it inspires me to sing and dance
in front of the mirror
like Alice through the looking glass
moving into a land that reflects more than
just the image of me.
I talked to you in my mind today
but you will never be aware that you too
were in the looking glass
staring back at me in bewilderment.
You were bewildered because you saw yourself
instead of me.
If you look closer you will find that I reflect you

The red wine of evening is flowing through my veins
and people are walking down the streets of summer
skipping along to the dreams in their heads
never daring to tell anyone.
But I have told you my dreams
and I watched you sit still while I grew.

I felt like flying today
But you did all the flying.
I saw your face
I looked into your eyes
while you were flying
and it had nothing to do with the fact that it was windy
and it had nothing to do with Thursday.
