Artist's Description

The landowners at Stora Bjurum used to grow large fields of potatoes during the 19th century. They were rich and built the church and a school building for the lokal children. The cranes discovered that this area had not only a shallow lake full of fish and other norishing items, there was vegetable food to be found on the surrounding plains. The rumour spread…Today I think there aren´t such great areas of potatoes any more (the owners produced licquor from potatoes in those years) but enough is produced to keep the cranes coming! Cranes are much loved birds in Sweden. They “bring the spring with them” and so do the “Wooping Swans” and their flights and calls are welcome indeed!
