Artist's Description

This is a collage of stones at Blomsholm in northern Bohuslän, Sweden.

The site has a beautiful “stone ship”, a stone circle forming the outline of a ship with taller stones at prow and stern. Individual stones bear a resemblance with humans. In my eyes they are women. The ship is a female too in my language. In the Viking era ships were used for burials, sometimes burned at sea.
The rounded boulder with its very special `cracks´ is laying beside the stern of the ship and it is usually overlooked by visitors and archeologists alike. It may, however, have been vital in the coming-of-age rituals staged for young girls.
