Artist's Description

She is the ancient creator Goddess of the far North. In the
Icelandic Edda she is called Alda: “Ár var Álda”. She existed before
the world, only an unfathomable void existed, her uterus!!
From it was created sand and cool waves, solid rock and ocean,
rivers and humans…

This aquarelle was painted in the colours of the Saami flag by an
artist from Alta in northern Norway. She is the Sun Goddess standing
behind the holy mountain of Alta, the Halda.

I find it right to post Her on December 13, St Lucia Day, the
day of " the Light Queen of Sweden". Above the Polar Circle there
is hardly any daylight at all now! Only the snow brightens things up a bit!
