Artist's Description

Found along with many others on the walls of the Coliseum in Rome, Italy.
Nikon D90
During the period when Rome was past it’s glory and the Coliseum was being systematically disassembled, it’s parts used for building materials elsewhere, etc, the iron bars that held the blocks of the structure together were removed for their metal value. Scavangers had learned where to find the bars, near the corners of the blocks and they worked to remove them, leaving holes like this all over the structure.
