Gianmarco, 19, from Italy. I like art, design, psychology, Moleskine notebooks, travelling. I don’t like poetry (although I do like...

Starting when I was a little kid in Kindergarten, I’ve always felt the need to express myself visually.

Drawing was what started it all. While other children went out of their way to get their drawings done the quickest way possible, I would dedicate them much time. Thinking back, I really enjoyed it. It was the thing that I loved doing the most.

Growing up, computers (and technological gadgetry in general) began to take more and more time out of what I loved to do. I would spend less and less time on drawing, but I felt I couldn’t do anything about it.

Later in the years I did, however, find a way to somewhat combine both – I got interested in graphics editing. I even got pretty good at it, but still, that also seems to have been gone.

In 2010, photography got my attention; I really started appreciating looking at an amazing landscape or portrait. The thing was, all I could afford was a digital point-and-shoot camera. But then I bought my first DSLR camera, something which I had been waiting to do for quite a while.

In 2011 I once again started appreciating more “traditional” forms of visual expression (such as drawings, sketches, paintings, and so on), so that meant a change in the way I expressed, too.
