A Witch's Dream

I dreamt last night that I was walking
Through the forest to meet a stranger
I knew not what I should be expecting
But I knew I had to get there.

I dreamt last night that someone was waiting
In a clearing in the forest of life
He had something he was holding
It was a book and a knife

As I stepped into the open space
He used the knife to slice the air
He said that now it was safe
To come into the circle he had created there

He said he had to light the candles
And with a wave of his hand he did
I am a witch of alters and spells
But the power he was showing didn’t seem to fit

He looked at me and saw
The questions in my eyes
He said it is our law
That binds your powers inside

I started to understand
The power was in our heads
Afterall it was just a dream I’d had
I was still in my bed

You are traveling here to meet me
With only your mind in tow
I invited you here to learn you see
While your body rests at home

You think those spells come from inside you?
They come from our meetings here
I am the your pagan writings muse
You are the one my dear

You will do great things
By teaching the art to others
You are the messenger that brings
The story to your sisters and brothers.

So we wrote this poem for Witches
To announce that it is real
He provided the inspiration
And I present the deal

When you join the pagan rite
You must remember to Obey the Law
You will find your own might
But you must not harm at all.
