Joshua's Tree

Joshua fell so deep in love
For a woman who seemed born of angle’s
Such untainted beauty
Untamed
Not even October’s setting sun
Bursting through the drawing clouds
Could compare or out shine.

Joshua fell so deep in love
With a fleeting flame
Of passion and resolve
“Life was meant to be lived
The fast lanes
The dangerous ways
All things I love
That give the feel good rush of blood”
A fleeting flame
That swelled with lust
When she spoke his name.

Joshua fell so deep in love
And was torn apart
When the beaming street-lights
Blurred into one
On the night of laughter
music, drugs and fun.
Joshua was torn apart
On the night of burning steel
Twisted metal and tyre screams,
On the night of death-sodden thunder
Pools of blood
And lives torn asunder.

Joshua fell so deep
So deep beyond the light
Days passed by
Barely he whispered
Nights swam by
Never did he dream
Until one day, when his heart
bled with sorrow upon her grave.

In her graveyard on the brink of night
where a tree called his name
The branches promising him rest,
When the sun shone in vain
As the clouds choked it of life
Joshua fell to sleep
Held so very high by the summer blessed branches
Joshua found his love again.
