Okay, it’s crowded, I like that. Tubes of paint, brushes, notebooks, sketchbooks, pens, ink bottles, varnish bottles, paintbox, papers, bits of cloth and paper, notes and drawings, bookshelf with stuff, red wine in a glass, half eaten sandwich, chocolate bar in the open drawer with more brushes, cigarettes…. and light splashed in from the window the plants face, and the garden and meadow and bridge and trees in that.
I have moved a lot and was always eager to set up the familiars, both for work and a sense of comfort. I realized one day it was my landscape, my own landscape I was making for putting me in it.
I love being near plants and the garden is always just a few inches too distant. Right now, and here, in reach, I’ve got a white and a pink cyclamen, black violets, an orchid, and River Nile Begonia in front of me. Nice old wooden gateleg table. I can’t help it, I fall in love with stuff.
