Artist's Description

FREDERICK (rICK) GREGORY, GRANITE SCULPTOR
July 19, 1939 ~ July 24, 2017

Rick was a friend, and quite a guy.

He called himself Granite Man, and the Hod Carrier (“the stupid sonova b. who carries wet concrete up ladders to the builders”) and if there was a hard way to do it, he found it. Moving and shaping monolith sized granite, making water walls and flowing sculpture from Rio de Janeiro to Texas. He had galleries in Carmel Valley and Big Sur and Fresno and Brazil. Worked on gardens in South America with famed sculptor Naguchi.
