This photo was taken over St. Patrick’s Day weekend 2007, when we had really bad weather here in Ireland. Gale force winds, rain, hail, snow. You name it…
We were down in Kerry for the weekend and I decided to go for a little hike above Rossbeigh Strand. BAD IDEA! I got pelted by hail and rain. But I also got a few nice shots of Dingle Bay, best of which was this shot with rain and sleet seen from the side and illuminated by a ray of sunlight.
Rossbeigh Strand is a beautiful beach that sticks out at right angles from the Iveagh peninsula like a finger; so, one side of the beach has crashing Atlantic breakers and the other is like a warm lagoon.
It has huge sand dunes and an amazing view over towards Dingle and Inch strand. Facing west it has gorgeous sunsets too.
Rossbeigh Strand is located 1 mile from Glenbeigh on the ring of Kerry. It’s about 20 miles from Killarney/Tralee and Kerry (Farranfore) airport is about 30 minutes away by car.
