Don’t walk in front of me, I may not follow. Don’t walk behind me, I may not lead. Walk beside me and just be my friend. -Albert Camus, French Novelist
Roses have a long and colourful history. They have been symbols of love, beauty, war, and politics. The rose is, according to fossil evidence, 35 million years old! In nature, the genus Rosa has some 150 species spread throughout the Northern Hemisphere, from Alaska to Mexico and including Africa. Garden cultivation of roses began some 5,000 years ago, probably in China.
I dedicate this to my friend Maree Clarkson ! Thanks so much for wonderful friendship and inspiration every day!
I have a few pink roses in my garden here in South Africa too….wonderful!

Thorny devils! I have some of a friends old climbers which are extremely hard to prune unless in a space suit and armed with a laser! Well painted Liz.
Thank you Kay, I think it is easier to paint them than to prune them! ;-)
