AFRICA contains a wide range of animals, including leopards, lions, cheetahs, hyenas, jackals, wildcats, antelope, buffalo, rhinos, hippos, zebras, giraffes, elephants, foxes, chimpanzees, gorillas, monkeys, seals, whales, dolphins, and fish.
A giraffe’s heart is very big and very busy, pumping up to 20 gallons (75 liters) of blood every minute, and weighing up to 25 pounds (11 kilograms).
Giraffes (Giraffa camelopardalis) have a preference for feeding on young leaves and shoots but will eat grasses and other plant matter. Their favorite meal consists of the tender leaves that grow on the crowns of acacia trees. They have long, prehensile that provide them with great dexterity and the ability to grasp onto shoots and pull them into their mouths as they strip off the leaves.
