Welcome to my plan – uh – page. To be brief – before digressing – my Father was an Art Teacher so as I grew up he taught me what he taught. And was kindly critical. As a young rebel, however, I definitely grew more interested in photography, especially after acquiring a Yashica 35mm SLR. Capturing images in proper composition and perspective (and sometimes not proper) to show a moment led me to take the only college lessons I took in the early 80’s: Photography. I rarely made money with it so of course I kept working life.

Always love nature and the outdoors, the ocean and mountains. So I moved to an area outside of Yosemite National Park where I eventually got married and went to work as a driver/waste collector for a garbage company. That was a daily adventure that lasted well over a decade. Imagine taking a lid off a trash can and facing an angry Raccoon. Or backing up to a dumpster but ending up negotiating with a Black Bear. And as some peoples trash become others treasures, driving from property to property was having my own mountain man trap line; where I eventually found a Digital Camera that was discarded because it’s memory card was full…. I definitely became captivated by digital photography.

Present adventure: Living on the beautifully blessed Garden Island of Kaua’i, Hawaii (ocean and mountains and warmth:) with my wife. In this century I am currently using a very hardy Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ35

‘Hapa’ is the Hawaiian word for portion, fragment, part, fraction, installment; to be partial, less. It is a loan from the English word half. I consider most photographs that I take are only half-taken, then the other half completed through Post Processing to make it whole. I’ll explain more at my blogsite. So it is a pleasure to share my Hapatography of Kauai’s moments here. Aloha!
