Artist's Description

This is another one of those photographs which appears in my self-published book. I wanted to use the early morning light to take advantage of the way it reflects the delicate nature of the exquisite texture of this collossus of form. Actually, the locals of a generation or two ago had a less flattering name for this massive form. They used to call it ‘School Marms Britches’ since it resembles a cowboy’s riding chaps.

The camera used for this shoot was the Hasselblad 500CM w/50mm wide angle lens. Filtering was a combination of the No.12 Yellow (minus red) filter with the polarizer. The settings for the camera were f16 @ 1/4 sec.. The film was Kodak’s Panatomic-x rated at ISO-25 and developed in HC110 (1:7) for 3 1/2 min @ 75 degrees. The image was processed in Photoshop CS3.
