Artist's Description

Talk about serendipity! We were checking out the tourist mecca Banff in the Canadian Rockies when we decided to go over to Lake Vermillion in the middle of the afternoon. Talk about God looking after fools and idiots – just when we got there the sun began to break through the threatening sky. while at the same time the lake went ‘quiet’. This rarely happens in the middle of the day. Fortunately my camera was in a ‘ready’ state so it was a simple matter to set up and shoot. It turned out to be a 15-20 minute window in which I was able to get both color and B&W images and then everything was wiped away by the wind a frontal passage usually brings.

The camera was a Mamiya RZ67 II w/65mm wide angle lens attached w/No.21 org filter plus the polarizer. The camera settings were f8 @ 1/30th sec.. The film used was Ilford’s Pan-f Plus rated at ISO-50.
