For my brother

The car opened on the beach
Spilling out in chaos into the canyon
Like Laurel? No, wavier. Pain released in the sand
Climbing into these rocks bound by the nameless
Could we represent our capability to absorb this
Or would we stay stagnant in our calamity
Still feeling from this institution we both knew
Sitting on the beach late at night, L.A. moons of blood
Factory girls watching the streets tunnel narrow & still
Water crashes on what is within, I knew it would change
And now- looking back, never has it been the same
Or myself, because of those times- stars shooting
My own I feel to chase upon a comet
And grab a hold of this journey into unknown worlds
Years from now – I’ll never forget our words
Good friends last forever, mountain top music
Stoned and beautiful in a club of light
Trumpet sounds and phases and connects every other
Like a friend,
And like a brother
I was too sensitive looking back, forgive the change
A different individual steps forward to speak now
In our five by sixes late trying to sneak
Griffith shades laughter and trying to get it together
And looking back I was being mislead, forgive the strange
A person full of freedom falls back to be broken now
There is nothing wrong with how we live
Sheltered from a storm that kept coming
If we don’t get to that beach again
Know one thing
Guitar serenades and moves to love every other
Like a friend,
And like a brother
