Artist's Description

The Männleinlaufen is a mechanical clock that commemorates the Golden Bull of 1356. The clock was installed in the Frauenkirche (“Church of Our Lady”) in Nuremberg, Germany in 1506. The Holy Roman Emperor is shown seated with the prince-electors surrounding him.
The Golden Bull of 1356 was a decree which fixed important aspects of the constitutional structure of the Holy Roman Empire. It was named the Golden Bull for the golden seal it carried.
