Artist's Description

Taken from Lydiard Street looking along Sturt Street, Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. Built in the 1860,s the Ballarat Town Hall is believed to be one of the only three such buildings in the world equipped with bells. The eight “Alfred Bells” in the clock tower, weighing four and a half tons, were purchased to celebrate the arrival of Prince Alfred in 1865 following an attempted assassination. In the foreground, there is an example of an old style street light and a modern street light.
