Artist's Description

Charcoal stems are all that remain of a thriving open forest of Eucalyptus obliqua, StringyBarks, following an intense fire that blazed it’s way across this well vegetated hillside in the Willunga Hills Region of South Australia. The plants in the foreground are Grass Trees, Xanthorrhoea semiplana, which withstood the flames and are now reshooting. They are the only plants in the understorey to survive the intense heat and flames.
