Summer Fantasy

i lay in the cool grass
and gaze at the full silver moon
through the leaves on the tree
they whisper to me in the dark
i listen to their hushed call
and make believe it’s him
calling my name
the breeze caresses my cheek
the scent of baby roses fills the air
i imagine his blue eyes, his golden hair
how many mellow summer nights
are lost lovingly to my reverie?
oh, i lose count…
the crickets chirp
a constant soothing hum
across the yard the radio plays softly
soundtrack of summer
if i lay very still i can hear him
slow dancin’
we’re swayin’ to the music
just me and my guy
i’m safely hidden from reality
no moonbeams will find me under here
how sweet my solitude is
wrapped in its dark soothing arms
with my fantasy boy
and some sweet summer night
he might come out here with me
and lay beside me in the cool grass
under the silvery moon

Artist's Description

I wouldn’t want to be 15 again for anything, but I do so miss those carefree summers when I had more time to indulge my daydreams!
