The Fascinated

Get out of my sight –
You who grieve through your smiles,
Who watch for the details,
To regurgitate over tea and a biscuit.
Your sympathy
Is like a limp handshake.
Stupid, it’s not my hand that will break!
Can it even be called sympathy?
That which your facial muscles form.
For to my eyes at least,
It is more of a fascination.
Yes, you are fascinated.
Fascinated, as you watch the
Still, cold body.
Fascinated as tears slide down our faces,
And emotions are unmasked.
Get out of my sight –
Your fascination disgusts me.
