I am a retired Elementary school teacher(retired in 2003), artist(Painting-Acrylic & Mixed Media), poet, and photographer. I can DO Photoshop, but I like the challenge of composing and capturing straight out of the camera more.I have been active in the art community for more than 40 years. Seaside Staff Representative for Seaside Art & History Commission, and Chairperson of the Seaside Artists Association. In 2015 I became the Art Program Director for the City of Seaside. That meant I had to resign from the Seaside Art History Commission. The association was formed February 2012 to provide events and venues for Seaside’s artists to show and sell their artwork. Reading romantic detective stories or historically based fiction is my other passion. In the summer of 2010 I started Gray’s Photo Tours. The concept is to provide guided photographic tours or Photo classes for visitors of this scenic area and portraits on locations of their choice. I enjoy covering events in my community with photography to record the good family fun to be had if you just look for it.My motto is, “I specialize in NOT specializing.” Sometimes using any one medium becomes restrictive or just plain boring. I get satisfaction from mastering a technique tied to new material. Then I am ready to try something new.August 2011, I rented a studio space at Artists Habitat Studio Seaside, but this July we were forced out because the owner needed it for a new Leaser. Every “spare” space in my home is filled with all the art materials I want to try. They sit there waiting for me to explore them. Sometimes they call to me and I answer by using them.My husband has built me a studio in my back yard! I can not tell you how exciting this is. I am almost afraid to move in because it has been a dream for so long.

Focus on Photography

I HAVE to focus on photography since loosing my studio, and cramming all my materials into my house! The owner of the space we were occupying found someone to lease it and gave us 2 weeks to vacate! I went into Master Packer Mode. Today I covered the Great Sand Castle Contest on Carmel Beach. Look for photos on Redbubble when I have time to pick out the best.

Seasons Tidings

My family has been a challenge and at times all consuming but I am grateful for them. Next year I will have lots of exposure for my art. My goal is to find a gallery to represent me. Right now I h…
