Artist's Description

The Fort Pierce Florida USA city marina, along with yachts valued in the millions of dollars, was destroyed by hurricane Francis in 2004. These unprotected docks extended into the waters of the Indian River-Atlantic Intercoastal Waterway and were exposed to the full fury of the hurricanes eye as it passed overhead.Workers spent several days lifting the destroyed boats from the water using barge mounted heavy lift cranes. Meanwhile the US Coast Guard maintained a pollution watch on the area as fuel and holding tanks spilled into the sensitive waters. The area was pounded by hurricane Jeanne just 30 days later, city officials have yet to replace these docks.
