Artist's Description

A gannet prepares to dive for food, taken off of Bass Rock
During a visit to Bass rock the gannets collected around the ship we were on and due to ‘chumming’, the feeding of chopped up fish and oil, to the sea, start to feed, gradually as numbers build and the feed in the water increases the spectacle of the diving occurs all around and then quite close to the boat. It really is an amazing sight and the speed, accuracy and skill of the birds is incredible.
NIKON D300, 1/2000 sec, aperture priority, F8, ISO1000, 200mm focal length, multi-segment
