Truthful Fears

No matter how hard you try,
The past can’t say goodbye,
You’re like a moth to the flame,
Drawn into its mental game.
Time is known to help things heal.
But time is also known to steal,
The more time that passes by,
The more your pride starts to fry.
You hide away from the people you know,
You wear a mask so that your tears don’t show,
The mask is giggling, laughing and smiling,
But inside you are slowly withering.
You are withering away like a dying flower,
As your emotions take all your power,
Thoughts inside niggling away feeling so true,
The only one there is to blame is you.
Your pride is still withering as you hold the shame,
While the anger inside is becoming less tame,
Becoming more gullible to your thoughts and feelings,
Trying to stay calm with the anger reeling.
An eruption is about to explode,
But instead it chooses to implode,
Broken trust and shattered emotions,
Part of you again during the commotion.
Dreams vivid and fear real,
Adding to the insecurities you feel,
A peaceful mind coming and going,
But inside the wounds are still showing.
Lies can hide you but can’t save you from yourself,
It’s just like lifting yourself up right onto a shelf,
You sit there crying those painful tears,
Unable to move frozen by the truthful fears.
Years of hiding, years of fighting but had changed?
Apart from the fact of feeling estranged!
