Artist's Description

Pennsylvania’s first Catholic parish, established in the 1720s. Parishioners originally met in the home of Thomas Wilcox of Ivy Mills (now Glen Mills). The first chapel was completed nearby in 1856 and a number of restorations followed culminating in the present day structure. The church is a good example of William Penn’s “Holy Experiment” in religious toleration as many local Protestants in the area coexisted with their Catholic neighbors in peace and harmony over the centuries.
