If you read a lot of the classical text on Artemis, she can seem like a minor goddess supporting Zeus and his patriarchal rule. I see through all of that propaganda to the true Artemis. Underneath she is an ancient wild Goddess, running free with her female companions, her hounds and the wild animals under her protection.
Some speculate that she was not the virgin goddess she was made out to be. At her roots, she was a sensual Goddess keeping her freedom by remaining unmarried. Who she loved was her business and not controlled by others. As an archer, she embodies the ability to focus and hit her target. She can focus on the greater picture and see the details as well. Artemis sees the forest and the trees!
