This one was taken at Kendall, NSW under a fairly clear sky. A 55mm f1.8 lens was used wide open at 5 second exposures at ISO 3200 to create the image. DeepSkyStacker was then used to stack the light, dark and offset/bias frames.

The camera is a Pentax K-x DSLR.. Check out DeepSkyStacker (Google it) for more information on stacking images.
“out of this world shot” I have just started to dabble taking stars but my pictures are so noisy – what camera are you using?

Thanks for your comments – I’m using a Pentax K-x. What are you using? If it’s a point and shoot, they typically have pretty bad low light performance due to their smaller sensors.
