My absence.

Should I apologise for my absence?
I lost my lover and my muse.

Did I shoot myself in the foot
Or was it conditioned self- preservation?
God only knows,
(Then he may not either),
So where does that leave us?

We’re on a path to everything and nothing,
Silences filling sadness
And pain perpetuating pain.

Yet all things go in cycles
And we separate and come together again,
Like the sea and the shore.

Isn’t everything connected?
Our thoughts reaching out
A vulnerable as a new- born babe.

My soul searches and wrings the questions dry,
Parched as a desert, still ever- hopeful
That love can hold us, maintain us,
Ignite us and sustain us.

Should I apologise for my absence?

Artist's Description

Written directly onto this Redbubble page. Feeling raw and going inwards after a tumultuous relationship. We split, I run away and come back again. Am looking at my patterns of behaviour and expressing my feelings in a raw, authentic way. My poetry is becoming more real and conversational, like a flow of thoughts.
