Artist's Description

Los Padres National Forest encompasses approximately 1.75 million acres of central California’s scenic Coast and Transverse Ranges.
Los Padres has ten wilderness areas covering about 48% of the forest. There are 1,257 miles of trails and part of the Jacinto Reyes National Scenic Byway.
Many rivers in Southern and Central California have their points of origin within the Los Padres National Forest, including the Carmel, Salinas, Cuyama, Sisquoc, Santa Ynez, Coyote Creek, Sespe, Ventura, and Piru.
A total of 48% of the total area within the forest has a wilderness designation: San Rafael Wilderness, Ventana Wilderness, Garcia Wilderness, Santa Lucia Wilderness,
Machesna Mountain Wilderness, Silver Peak Wilderness, Dick Smith Wilderness, Chumash Wilderness, Sespe Wilderness, Matilija Wilderness
Los Padres National Forest is located in the national forest’s Pacific Southwest Region (Region 5).
