Artist's Description

Lassen National Forest is a national forest of 1,700 square miles in northeastern California.
The forest was first named the Lassen Peak Forest Reserve because of Lassen Peak, a volcano which is in the southernmost portion of the Cascade Range volcanoes.
There are three wilderness areas within Lassen National Forest: Caribou Wilderness, Ishi Wilderness, and Thousand Lakes Wilderness.
You can explore a lava tube or the land of Ishi, the last survivor of the Yahi Yana Native American tribe; watch pronghorn antelope glide across sage flats or an osprey snatch fish from lake waters; drive four-wheel trails into high granite country appointed with sapphire lakes or discover spring wildflowers on foot.
Lassen National Forest is located in the national forest’s Pacific Southwest Region (Region 5).
