Artist's Description

During the Anglo Boer war, the British built a series of fortified blockhouses to protect the railway bridges along the strategic supply line for the war effort. The blockhouse in this photo is conveniently situated next to the N1 route connecting Cape Town with Johannesburg. It has been restored but obviously seems to be a perfect target for graffiti “artists” who have no appreciation for the historic value of the building.

Usually I try to avoid lensflare, but in this case I took of the lenshood and think it contributes to the overall composition.

HDR taken with Canon EOS 40D
