my latest thoughts on global warming

there was a layered clasp

i met it in the storm drain

it was rounded & fair

bent along seaborn chains
close & shivering like the sound of rain
stepping sideways w/ anxious rage
clung together by a maze

i shuffled w/ the clanging song
tried to see exactly what went wrong

i still taste its breath upon my lips
it ebbs & flows
ebbs
& raises itself across the divide
along a magnetic & slippery lift
it rings
fresh metal in lieu of
stillness

w/ solar operatic fists
it told me
this
is what persists
