Tracy, come out to play

Get off my land!
You’re trespassing…
she says

Don’t you know
that I am just a kid?
just exploring the old path
that leads to your home

and Tracy…

We are the same age
We’ve never played
not even once
has your mother hidden you away?

your brick home
with no windows in back
but for two
on the basement floor
with burlap drapes
always closed

Mrs. Weaver…
May I ask your age?
You’ve been around forever,
your face is nearly unlined?
your hair in the same blue curlers
always under that same yellow scarf…

that old dusty Buick
you never leave?

why you so mad?

I heard your house
was once like ours
now completely remodeled

Hey~!

Mrs. Weaver…
I’m not trespassing…
I’m just exploring
just a curious naive kid

Tracy…
won’t you ever come out to play?

Tracy
come out to play…

Tracy, come out to play

Artist's Description

everybody’s neighborhood is different…and everybody has a past…I was always confused about this family and why I wasn’t allowed to be friends with someone my own age? I’m sure we’ve all dealt with these kinds of confusions..memories from the past..why certain things are ‘held’ from us..not to share…
