This is for Diana.
We were en route from Perth to FNQ and into the fifth day of our journey. We had stayed a couple of nights at Port Lincoln and this shot was on a side road between there and Port Augusta, SA. We were headed that day to Peterborough, then via Broken Hill and Dubbo to the coast where we stayed a few days with friends before heading up to Mission Beach.
In 8 years we pulled this van in excess of 100,000 kms and all up did over 300,000 kms – all with this car, which never did let us down.. Most Aussies will instantly recognise it but for the record it is a 1980 4.3 litre 6 cyl. Chrysler Regal Station Wagon, arguably one of the toughest vehicles of it’s class on the road at that time. I should add that the caravan was 20’ long by 8’ wide and, as we were going to be away for about a year, rather heavily loaded
