Artist's Description

Regans Ford has been on maps of Western Australia since about 1880. Around this time one Edward Regan – a shepherd with a rather colourful past (he was transported out from England on a convict ship) was contracted to build a ford across the Moore River in order to allow bullocks to be driven across. The story goes that he hired local Aboriginal labour for the really hard parts. The fact remains that he made a really good job of it and to this day cars and trucks can be driven across (although there is nothing to speak of when they get to the other side!) Close by is an overnight parking area for caravans and also a roadhouse. Regans Ford is about 145 kms north of Perth and was our first stop on our recent trip.
