Artist's Description

Typical of some of the earliest river/stream crossings used on Dartmoor this clapper bridge is one of the few that remain in good order, although I believe the even this one has collapsed in recent times. This is just about the first colour slide I ever took and it must have been around 1949. The lady at the very back (not actually on the bridge) is my mother who had just celebrated her 45th birthday. When she died 9 years ago she was about to celebrate her 95th!! This is about as large as I can get this unfortunately.
