Tree climbing carried to a new dimension! There are three climbing trees in Western Australia and they are all within about a 33 kms radius of the timber town of Pemberton. All are around 65 metres high and when there is any sort of breeze blowing they do tend to sway rather alarmingly, especially when you get nearer to the top where, I should add, there is a well constructed viewing hut. How these trees were originally pegged is a story in itself and I am currently seeking permission to show a very old photo of one of the pioneer woodmen which will blow you away!!
Anyway, my brother in law took this photo of me in the act of climbing the Diamond Tree in the Karri forest between Manjimup and Pemberton. We would, I suppose, be about 320/330 kms south of Perth
