The province of Nova Scotia, Canada, on the Atlantic Ocean coast, has innumerable beaches. One of our favourites is Crystal Crescent, which is really a series of fairly small beaches with headlands separating the various sections. Only about 30 miles from Halifax, the provincial capital, the beaches are easily accessible for day trips, yet are never crowded and several sections are very secluded. There are miles of trails and boardwalks to explore, or just pick a spot on one of the stretches of soft sand and relax. There was a light fog this day in October,2005, when we were scouting out one of the sections of trail.
