Artist's Description

The British sail training ship “Prince William” at dockside in Halifax, Nova Scotia, for the Tall Ships Festival in July, 2007. The ship, which belongs to the Tall Ships Youth Trust, is one of two sister-ships which have been used to provide seamanship training for British youth. The ship was originally designed for Caribbean cruises but after being bought by the TSYT she was modified to be better suited for deep ocean cruises under heavy weather. Her basic plan is a two-masted brig configuration.

For a much more detailed story on the ship and her sister-ship the “Stavros S Niarchos”, please see the story at this URL:

Taken at Halifax July 14, 2007 with a Sony DSCF828 camera
